MAGERIT

The “Consejo Superior de Informática” (Information Technology Council) has prepared the Risk Analysis and Management Methodology for the information systems of the Public Administrations, MAGERIT (the Spanish acronym). The Council recommends the use of this methodology as a response to the growing dependence of the Public Administrations (and of society as a whole) on information technology. MAGERIT’s purpose is directly related to the extensive and generalized use of information technology. While information technology provide obvious benefits to citizens, they also give rise to certain risks that must be minimized through security measures that guarantee the authenticity, confidentiality, integrity and availability of the information systems (these concepts are precisely defined in this Procedures Handbook) and which generate confidence among users.
